Superficial Moist Heat

The temperature of soft tissues directly below the surface of the skin are raised with the use of heating pads, infrared lamps, water bottles, moist warm towels, and/or hot packs. Blood vessels are enlarged, relaxing tissues and temporarily relieving painful symptoms. An increase in circulation and muscle relaxation is helpful before or after adjustments, exercises and other treatments. The healing process is sped up with the increase in circulation, range of motion and flexibility.
